Meet the actor who plays Garfield in the movie
We all know and love Garfield, the lovable orange cat who loves food and sleeping. But did you know that there is an actor who plays Garfield in the movie? His name is Ben Dreyfuss, and he is an accomplished actor with a long list of credits to his name.
Dreyfuss was born in New York City, and he started his acting career at a young age. He has appeared in many popular TV shows and movies, including “30 Rock,” “The Office,” “Hitch,” “13 Going on 30,” and “beerfest.” He also has voicing roles in animated shows like “Robot Chicken” and “BoJack Horseman.”
In addition to his work on screen, Dreyfuss is also a talented writer. He has written for The Huffington Post, GQ, Esquire, Maxim, and other publications. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two kids.
What it’s like to play Garfield
Most people assume that the role of Garfield was just another acting gig for Bill Murray. But in reality, it was much more than that. Murray had to endure numerous hours in a makeup chair to transform into the lazy, lovable cat we all know and love.
“It’s not easy being green,” Murray joked in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “But it’s worth it when you see the final product and realize how much joy you brought to people.”
Murray wasn’t the only one who had to make some sacrifices for the role. In order to make Garfield look as real as possible, the filmmakers used a combination of computer-generated imagery (CGI) and animatronics. This meant that sometimes the actors had to perform their scenes with nothing but a tennis ball for a co-star.
“It was definitely challenging,” said Breckin Meyer, who played Jon Arbuckle in the film. “But I think that’s what made it so fun in the end. We all had to use our imaginations a bit more than usual.”
In spite of the challenges, both Murray and Meyer say they would jump at the chance to play their respective roles again. And who knows? With a sequel currently in development, they just might get their wish.
What the movie is about
The Garfield movie is about a lazy, self-centered cat who hates Mondays and loves lasagna. In the movie, Garfield tries to ruin his owner’s chances of getting married to his veterinarian.
How the movie was made
The all-new live action/computer-animated adventure comedy Garfield: The Movie marks the big screen debut of everyone’s favorite fat, lazy, lasagna-loving feline. In the movie, based on the hugely popular Jim Davis comic strip seen in newspapers around the world, Garfield is voiced by Bill Murray.
The movie was made using a combination of live action and computer animation. To create Garfield’s look, silicon molds of Murray’s face were made and his voice was recorded. Then a computer animator used Murray’s recorded dialogue and expressions to create CGI (computer generated images) of Garfield that were blended with the live action footage.
The history of Garfield
In 1978, Garfield first appeared in newspapers across the United States. He was created by Jim Davis, who also wrote the comic strips U.S. Acres (Orson’s Farm) and Gnorm Gnat. Garfield has since become one of the most popular comic strips of all time, with books, movies, TV shows, and all sorts of other merchandise featuring the lovable orange cat.
In the early 2000s, a series of live-action Garfield movies were released, with Bill Murray voicing the iconic character. The first movie, Garfield: The Movie, was released in 2004 and was a box office hit. A sequel, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, was released in 2006.
The different adaptations of Garfield
There have been many different adaptations of Garfield over the years. The most popular and well-known adaptation is the cartoon series, which ran from 1978 to 1995. This was followed by the live action movies in 2004 and 2006. More recently, there was an animated movie released in 2014.
Garfield has also been adapted into video games, toys, and other merchandise.
The different incarnations of Garfield
Garfield has been played by many different actors over the years, both in movies and in TV shows. In the movies, Garfield has been voiced by Bill Murray, Breckin Meyer, and even Simon Cowell. Garfield’s most recent movie appearance was in the 2020 movie “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle”, where he was voiced by John Cena. In TV shows, Garfield has been voiced by Lorenzo Music, Tom Kane, Rob Paulsen, and Frank Welker.
The Garfield phenomenon
The Garfield phenomenon is a pop culture phenomenon that refers to the comic strip character Garfield and the associated merchandising and media franchise. The franchise began in 1978 with the comic strip and has since expanded to include books, TV shows, movies, toys, and more.
The people behind Garfield
Beloved by children and adults around the world, Garfield is a comic strip character created by Jim Davis in 1978. The orange, overweight feline with a sarcastic sense of humor has been featured in newspapers, books, television shows, movies and more. But who is the voice behind this popular cartoon character?
In the Garfield movies, Bill Murray provides the voice of Garfield. Murray is a well-known comedian and actor, who has starred in films such as Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters. He has won an Emmy Award for his work on Saturday Night Live and has been nominated for an Academy Award.
Though he is not as well-known as Bill Murray, Thom Huge is the voice of Garfield in the television series The Garfield Show. Huge is a French actor who has appeared in a number of films and television shows. He also does voice work for other characters in The Garfield Show, including Odie and Nermal.
The future of Garfield
The Garfield franchise is in a bit of a funny place at the moment. The comic, of course, is still going as strong as ever and shows no signs of slowing down. The most recent movies, however, have not been as well-received by audiences. 2010’s Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties was met with mixed reviews and 2014’s The Amazing Garfield failed to make much of an impact at the box office.
With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the big screen incarnation of Garfield. Will we see more movies? And if so, who will be taking on the role of everyone’s favourite lasagne-loving cat?
