Michael Keaton played the title character in the 1988 Tim Burton film Beetlejuice. The movie was a critical and commercial success, and Keaton’s performance as the eponymous ghost was widely praised. He reprised the role in a sequel, Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, in 2001.

Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz

Winona Ryder played Lydia Deetz in the 1988 Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice. Lydia is a goth girl who is fascinated by the undead, and she befriends Beetlejuice after he is summoned to haunt her home. The role earned Ryder a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor, and she has since reprised the role in two animated television series.

Alec Baldwin as Adam Maitland

Alec Baldwin played Adam Maitland in Tim Burton’s 1988 movie Beetlejuice.

Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland

Geena Davis played Barbara Maitland in the original Beetlejuice movie. She was married to Adam Maitland, played by Alec Baldwin. The two were Interior designers who were killed in a car accident and became ghosts. They tried to scare the new family out of their home, but Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton, ended up being the one who helped them.

Jeffrey Jones played the role of Charles Deetz, the new husband of Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis) in Beetlejuice. He is also the father of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). Jones’ other notable films include Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The series Beetlejuice as Charles Deetz and Howard the Duck.

Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz

In the Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice, Catherine O’Hara played the character of Delia Deetz. O’Hara is a Canadian actress, writer, and comedian who is known for her work on the television series SCTV and in the films Home Alone (1990), After Hours (1985), Beetlejuice (1988), and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).

Glenn Shadix as Otho

Glenn Shadix played Otho in Tim Burton’s 1988 film Beetlejuice. Otho is a professional bio-exorcist who is hired by the Deetz family to help them get rid of Beetlejuice.

Shadix was a frequent collaborator with Burton, appearing in four of his films: Beetlejuice, Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Planet of the Apes.

Robert Goulet as Max Schreck

As the sinister host of the Netherworld TV show, Beetlejuice, Max Schreck (based on the real-life German actor of the same name) is a black-clad, image of death come to life. He’s also terribly fond of singing “Day-O” (the Banana Boat Song).

Sylvia Sidney as Juno

The role of Beetlejuice’s mother, Juno, was originally offered to Sylvia Sidney. She turned it down because she didn’t want to play a mother who abandoned her baby. The role ultimately went to Catherine O’Hara.

Dick Cavett as himself

Dick Cavett played himself in the movie. He was a talk show host who Beetlejuice used to try and take over the world.
