The downtown area and business district were used for scenes set in the city. Various scenes were also shot in local parks and on local streets.

The film’s love story
Just Wright is a 2010 American romantic sports comedy-drama film directed by Sanaa Hamri and written by Michael Elliott and Rick Famuyiwa. The film stars Queen Latifah,Common, Paula Patton, James Pickens Jr., Julie Benz and Affion Crockett. The film was released on May 14, 2010.
Just Wright follows the story of Leslie Wright (played by Queen Latifah), a physical therapist from Brooklyn who falls in love with professional basketball player Scott McKnight (played by Common). After an injury sidelines Scott, Leslie is hired to help him recover–and sparks begin to fly between the two. Although the film takes some liberties with the NBA (such as having a black head coach in a league that was overwhelmingly white at the time), it’s clear that the filmmakers did their homework when it came to basketball. Most of the scenes in Just Wright were filmed on location in various parts of Brooklyn and New York City.
The film’s fashion
In addition to its romantic and comedic elements, Just Wright also features some impressive fashion. The film’s costume designer, Ann Roth, is a two-time Academy Award winner whose skills are on full display in this movie. From the glamorous red carpet looks worn by Leslie Wright ( Queen Latifah) to the basketball jerseys and streetwear worn by Scott McKnight (Common), the clothing in Just Wright helps to set the tone and mood of the film.
Roth was especially careful when choosing the pieces for Leslie’s red carpet looks. “For these moments, I wanted her to look like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn,” Roth said in an interview with The Huffington Post. “I wanted her to have a classic elegance about her.” Indeed, Leslie’s red carpet looks are both elegant and stylish, perfectly conveying her character’s confidence and sense of self-worth.
Scott’s basketball jerseys and streetwear, on the other hand, convey his character’s more relaxed and down-to-earth personality. As Roth explained in the same interview, “I wanted Scott to look like a real guy who would wear sneakers and a baseball cap.” This casual style is in stark contrast to Leslie’s more formal looks, but it works well for the film’s purposes.
