Alvin and the Chipmunks is a 2007 American live action/computer animated musical family comedy film directed by Tim Hill. The film stars Jason Lee, David Cross, Cameron Richardson, and Jane Lynch. She tells him about how Alvin and the Chipmunks are looking for a new producer since Dave Seville does not want to produce another movie about them. He goes to their house posing as Simon’s cousin Toby Seville in order to get close to them so they will let him be their new producer.
The interested parties head off to L.A., where they find that Simon has fallen in love with a girl named Eleanor (played by Amy Poehler), one of Ian’s employees. At first she seems sweet and kind but it is quickly revealed that she is nothing but controlling and manipulative towards Simon so she can use him and the chipmunks to get what she wants: fame and fortune. However, things take a turn for the worse when she starts putting too much pressure on the chipmunks, which causes them to start fighting with each other both onstage and off-. Can Simon, Alvin, Theodore, and Ian work together long enough to put on a successful show and save the day before Eleanor tears them all apart?
